Awareness cum Health camp for Livestock and Poultry at Sago Village of West Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh

An Animal health camp cum vaccination programme (against Foot and Mouth Disease of livestock and Ranikhet diseases of poultry) was organized by Animal Science Section of KVK West Siang (Arunachal Pradesh) at the Sago Village situated more than 1000 msl of West Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh on 27th May, 2016. The programme was planned by KVK West Siang and ICAR AP Centre, Basar in collaboration with Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh. Farmers from Sago, Sadi, Piri villages were participated and taken the advantages from the said camp. The sick animals brought to the camp were treated by the team of animal husbandry experts namely Dr. M. S. Baruah, Assistant Chief Technical Officer, (Animal Science) of KVK West Siang, Dr. D. Jini, Scientist, Vety. Extension, ICAR AP Centre, Basar and Dr. D. Riba, Sr. Vety. Officer of State veterinary Department of Arunachal Pradesh.

The tips and suggestions were also given to the livestock farmers regarding care and management of different livestock in the said camp itself. During the camp inputs in terms of deworming tablets, mineral mixtures and vitamins for livestock and poultry were distributed to the livestock farmers.

After the camp a field visit was also conducted by the veterinary experts to the farmers’ livestock and poultry unit to diagnosis the disease and housing problem. The programme was ended with a group discussion on the topic “Opportunities and Prospects of Livestock and Poultry Farming in Hill Ecosystem” among the livestock and poultry farmers.
